This policy explains how the current BusBuzz website and mobile app handle information. BusBuzz does not require an account. The current app has no advertising or analytics SDK and does not sell personal information.

Information saved on your device

Favorites and their custom names, recent stop selections, arrival alerts, weekly reminders, alert delivery state, language, theme, display and location preferences, and cached stop data are saved in app or browser storage. BusBuzz does not sync these records to a user account on a server.
Saved records remain until you remove or replace them, clear the app or website data, or the app expires or replaces cached entries. Your device or browser backup settings may separately affect copies of local data.

Location and transport requests

Location access is optional and off until you enable it. With permission, the app uses your location for nearby stops, walking distances and map positioning. Location coordinates are sent to the BusBuzz API when requesting nearby stops or stops in a map area. Search text, selected stops, lines and directions are also sent as needed to answer your transport requests.
The app does not implement continuous background location tracking or a server-side personal journey history. Turning location off stops the location feature; you can also revoke the operating system or browser permission. Existing favorites may still contain the public coordinates of the stops you saved.

Network services and technical information

BusBuzz hosting and API services process ordinary connection information, such as IP addresses and request details, to deliver responses and maintain the service. Operational diagnostics may record errors and technical information. Transport requests may cause the backend to request public transport data from MOT or Open Bus; your favorites and custom names are not sent to those feeds.
When you open the map, the website or mobile app requests styles, fonts and map tiles from OpenFreeMap. The website also requests a map worker from jsDelivr. Those providers receive connection information, including your IP address and requested resources; map tile requests can reveal the area you are viewing. Their processing is governed by their own policies, and providers may process information outside your country.
BusBuzz uses local storage for app functionality rather than advertising cookies. Browser or operating system services, including backups and notification delivery, have their own privacy settings. Network requests use HTTPS on the public service; local app storage is not an encrypted vault.

TestFlight beta testing

If you install the iOS beta through TestFlight, Apple processes beta testing information under its own terms and privacy policy. TestFlight automatically shares crash logs and usage statistics with Apple and the app developer. If you submit feedback, it may include screenshots and other details you choose to provide. This is separate from the app’s own storage and does not require an analytics SDK in BusBuzz.

Notifications

With your permission, BusBuzz schedules local notifications or browser notifications for your saved alerts. The current app does not register remote push notification tokens with a BusBuzz server. Alert text may include your stop, line and arrival time and can appear on your lock screen, depending on your device settings.
On mobile, background tasks may request transport updates for saved alerts when permitted by the operating system. This does not require background location access. Browser alerts are managed while the app is open.

Your choices, requests and retention

You can delete favorites and alerts, clear recent history, disable location and revoke notification permissions. See Delete your data for complete local removal instructions. There is no BusBuzz account to delete.
If you email support, we receive your email address and the message and attachments you choose to send. We use this correspondence to answer your request and retain it only as needed for support and applicable legal obligations. Please avoid sending unnecessary personal information.
Contact us to request access, correction or deletion of information you have sent to support, or to exercise privacy rights available under applicable law. We may need enough information to verify and locate the request. We cannot retrieve or erase data stored only on your device remotely. Technical records needed for security or legal obligations may be retained for those purposes; there is no single retention period for all records.

Children and policy changes

BusBuzz is a general-audience transit utility and is not directed specifically at children. We do not knowingly seek personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to support, contact us to request its removal.
We update this page when relevant features or data practices change. The date on this page identifies the current policy. Material changes will also be communicated in the app where appropriate.
